The series ran through 1978 for a total of 60 "regular issue" silver pieces. In addition to the "regular issue" silver pieces, pieces were struck in gold for the first seven designs. The gold striking had a very limited mintage; the first gold medal commemorating Alaska's Statehood had mintage of 24, while that celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Boy Scouts had mintage of 50. All others had a mintage of 48, with the exception of medal #2 for Hawaii's Statehood which mintage was 36. (Also, the first three designs were 18 kt gold while the latter four were 22 kt gold.)
