on a Hawaiian flag. The legend: HAWAII 50TH STATE UA MAU KE EA O KA AINA I KA
PONO surrounds the scene.

The series ran through
1978 for a total of 60 "regular issue" silver pieces. In addition to
the "regular issue" silver pieces, pieces were struck in gold
for the first seven designs. The gold striking had a very limited
mintage; the first gold medal commemorating Alaska's Statehood had mintage of
24, while that celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Boy Scouts had mintage
of 50. All others had a mintage of 48, with the exception of medal #2 for
Hawaii's Statehood which mintage was 36. (Also, the first three designs were 18
kt gold while the latter four were 22 kt gold.)
